RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPING

Trimmed hedges line the long, straight driveway to the house; layered in heights for maximum effect and highlighting the natural feature of the large old gum tree on the left with impressive bark.

This Killara house is beautifully surrounded with thick green lines of plants in tidy format. Trees in full foliage have an undergrowth of thick hedging in neat lines. Large and impressive plantings of agapanthas feature on either side of the entrance to the house, their bulbs soon to dot the green with purple flowers.

This Killara landscape design boasts a formal garden style with wide stone pathways around the front entrance to the house. Feature magnolia trees are underplanted with a perfectly trimmed square border hedge, which then repeats as it lines the pathway. A lush mass planting of agapanthas adds a deeper green with the structure of the bulbs that add a balanced interest as they grow upright and delight when in bloom. Past a vine covered trellis, some spherical hedges dot the path and a peaceful bench awaits in the distance.

This garden uses the best practices for landscape design of a formal garden. From one angle, this quiet bench seat gave away only a glimpseof itself. Now at the seat, we sit before a perfectly maintained clearing of lawn. The space is bordered with hedging, maintaining consistency throughout this formal garden design. In the corner an established gum tree stands majestically proud of its Sydney location. And in the distance we glimpse another seating area, with the functionality for entertaining.

Formal paving down the side of the house passes a raised herb garden. The herb garden makes blends into the formal surroundings with its stone appearance in a perfect and large rectangle. With a timber base, it echoes its natural surroundings and sits arop a bed of lightly coloured pebbles. Landscaping at its finest, the large rectangular pathway stones step their way through the sea of pebbles, and transition beautifully as one walks through a hedged entrance into a lush green area with soft grasses surrounding them.

This example of Killara backyard landscaping includes an entertaining area on the lush grass complete with unique fire pit set. While the leaves and purple jacaranda flowers of long established trees dot the sky, the edges of the lawned area are lined with evenly spaced trees in formal orchard fashion, with full undergrowth.

Continuing the elements on natural materials, the pool is made of stone which neatly continues as stone flooring around the pool.
